Busy

I've been a little busy this week.  Got all the stuff done for my sons return to school.  My daughter's supply shopping won't be attempted till the first day of school.  No lists given out early in High school.  Nope.  We got her schedule and we got the names of her teachers but no lists.  SO the entire high school will be out in force on Monday afternoon.  Wiping out the shelves of all the local stores.  I unfortunately will be right in the middle of it.  I like to get things done early so I don't have to be in the mess but the just won't let me!

I've also been busy "relaxing" with my honey.  He couldn't take a full week off because they are short handed at work so he split his last week of vacation up and combined a couple of days with his days off.  It's been nice having him home.  I think I've taken a nap every day!  Come Monday everyone will be off to work or school and I will go from busy bustling home to silence.  I'm a little sad about that.  On the other hand, my husband gets one day off during the week when the kids are in school and we use that as our "date day".  It's a day I look forward to every week.  :D  So back to school is bitter sweet.

We went to see Captain America at the theater today.  (It's my husbands birthday.)  I went in to the bathroom after the movie and the first stall I entered had a wet seat. BLECH!  Come on ladies!  Have some respect.  The next stall had no latch so it just swung back open after I entered.  Finally I found a suitable stall but it took some searching!  I don't know how people can leave a place that we all have to share so gross. 

Teaching myself to knit some socks from the toe up.  I think I like it better than the other way.  I've completed the toe and am working on the mid part of the foot now.  It will be interesting to see how working the gusset is from the other direction.  Found a site online that has some great tips.  It disturbs me how much I enjoy learning new techniques by reading or watching videos online.  SO much to learn!

My belly is full of birthday cake and I should go change into some looser pants.  CCB requested a spice cake but they had no mixes at the store.  I found a recipe online and whipped one up but was worried since I had never tried it before.  I didn't know if it was going to be like he was looking for or not.  I lucked out.  Trial run was a hit!  I need more notice for special requests!  Hee hee!

A little bit of this. A little bit of that.

Well we made it through another year didn't we! With all the stuff going on I'm choosing to be optimistic about the upcoming year. I think your attitude matters. Really I do.

Christmas break is over and it was unlike any school break we've had so far. It was made UBER clear to me that my daughter is growing up. She is turning into *gasp* a teenager. She spent the majority of her time in her room. Her interactions with her little brother are becoming less sweet and more irritating. Oh and that little TONE she gets from time to time has GOT TO GO! Don't get me wrong she is still a wonderful, sweet and loving girl. She's just moving into a new phase and we are all struggling to keep up. We'll figure it out but any words of encouragement from any of you who have raised teens would be welcome. Even if you've BEEN a teen and have some nuggets I'll take it. It takes a village yo.

Supposed to get tires on the car today. Well we tried last night but both shops we tried didn't have our tires. It seems that the size our car uses is going the way of the dinosaurs. The second shop could get them and was supposed to have them there for me this morning when I got there. Key word here is SUPPOSED. He told me he couldn't get them last night and that he had to send someone to Baton Rouge this morning to get them....in rush hour traffic. So now I have to wait till AFTER my little guy gets out of preschool. That will be a treat! I'm excited about that. No really.

Did I tell you I got a new haircut? Yeah, on New Years eve I decided to go get a new do. I had done my homework. I combed the Internet for a picture. I read about face shape and which styles work for them. I felt prepared to finally get a cut that made me look as sassy as I felt on the inside. I lost the weight and feel like a new woman it's time my hair followed suit. So I go in armed with my pictures. (Ladies Home Journal has a program where you can put your photo in and try on styles. LOVE IT.) I asked the stylist for her opinion since she is the professional and all and she said she could do it but didn't show much enthusiasm. Not exactly what I was after. She got to business started cutting away my hair. It was below my shoulders when she started. She kept cutting and kept cutting and well the do ended up being MUCH shorter than I asked for. It's a little different than the pictures. After working with it for a few days now I've finally come to the conclusion that I LOVE IT! I feel so perky and cute! It's amazing what a haircut can do for you isn't it?

Can knitting give you tennis elbow? I knitted a scarf and by the time I was done my elbow was killing me. It's been a couple weeks now and the pain hasn't gone away. I really enjoy crocheting and knitting this could be troublesome. ARG.

Have you noticed how many CAPITALS are in this post. I must be feeling passionate about my words today huh?

On Sunday our pastor talked about making a resolution to be thankful. To look at the big picture and be thankful instead of focusing on the small imperfections. I think that's a great idea. I really do have a terrific life. Sure there are issues that come up there will always be something to put a wrench in things right? I can't control those things. I can control my attitude though. I'm gonna try to be more thankful. Care to join me?

Catching up

I seem to have hit a bit of a plateau in my weight loss efforts. I decide to add some weights to my routine. My neighbor was wanting to purchase a weight machine and I told her to just come use mine for a while to decide if she really wants one. We lifted on Monday and we planned to do it Wed. and Friday as well. It really felt good to have those lovely sore muscles. I love that.

My brother is coming to visit me on the 31st! I'm very excited, it has been years since we've seen each other. We talk on IM all the time but I'm looking forward to seeing his handsome face!

Has anyone ever purchased stuff from E.L.F (www.eyeslipsface.com) I've been getting emails in my junk folder and checked it out. Just about everything is a dollar. I wondered if anyone had tried it.

This is my first week of being back to "normal". CCB is back at work and my daughter is back at school. *sigh* I gotta get a lottery ticket so CCB can quit work and stay home with me!

It's HOT.

It seems my cat's have fleas. Neither of them ever go outside but that didn't matter. My older cat has an allergic reaction to the bites. What a pain. They must have come in on one of us humans I guess. I think we are on the down hill side of this issue but I'm keeping my fingers crossed and spreading bug killer on my lawns! *wink*

That's all for now, I have to go vacuum the carpets AGAIN. Gotta get rid of any fleas that might have settled in the carpet.
