I seem to have traumatized my son. The day before Thanksgiving I was mopping the bathroom floor. The floor was still wet when my son came running in to get me. He slipped and was going to fall when I caught him. I helped him to slowly walk back into the hall where the floor was carpeted.
A few minutes later I was in the kitchen. I had mopped the kitchen floor before the bathroom but it had a couple of wet streaks and I didn't want a repeat of the bathroom incident. I put up my hands and said "Slow down! This floor is a little wet. I don't want you to fall." He stopped in his tracks. He wouldn't move until I came to get him and help him back on to the carpet.
Now he refuses to walk into the bathroom. He stands in the doorway with his feet on the carpet and hollers in to me or whoever is in there. Even when I take him by the hand to walk him in there. He takes tiny steps like he was walking on ice or something. I have mixed emotions about this development. On one hand it is nice to be able to sit on the toilet without having him tugging at me trying to get me to follow him. Although the hollering from the doorway thing is starting to get old.
He will come into the kitchen on occasion. I think sometimes he forgets to be scared. Those itty bitty steps just crack me up! Who knew mopping the floor would have such an affect on my youngest child!

Enjoy it while you can...the laughing at his expense part...I'm kidding...
LOL. What if he is scared of floors without carpet for life. No school, no trips for haircuts or trips to the mall, or..
What have you done to my boy?!?!?!
LOL....don't worry, one day he'll completely forget to be scared and he'll go barrelling over wet floors again! (Like when I accidentally almost vacuumed over Lou's feet when he was a year old...I had to hold him in one arm and vaccuum with the other for about 6 weeks while he shrieked throughout the whole thing...now I can't keep him away from the thing!)
He'll grow out of it, but I would recommend you carry aspray bottle full of water for traffic control. As soon as he's headed somewhere you don't wwant him to go, jsut give the floor a shot and say "Oh look out!! Wet floor!".
slipping and falling is the reason I don't clean floors... uh huh...
That is so adorable! No, though, it can be a game of go get mommy! Good luck!
My 8 year old is still scared of self flushing toilets you find in rest areas... since she was about 4!
that is freakin hilarious and cute as hell!!! I would take it as a small blessing in disguise that you can take a poo without someone getting too close! hehe
awwwhhh! that is so sweet, at least you have a child who's obedient and patient! lol!
Try to explain to him that the floor is not wet and you will tell him next time you mop so he won't fall.
