Deep breath

Ok here it goes. Last weekend we moved from our old apt to a much larger one. This was a plan we had set into motion more than a month ago. That would be happy news but......

About a week and a half before this scheduled move my husband got the call we had been waiting for. They wanted to promote him and move us to Baton Rouge Louisiana! Here is where it gets a little sticky. Our old apt had already been leased by another couple. We could NOT stay there, however we wouldn't be moving for a few weeks yet. We HAD to move all our crap to the new apt. By Sunday I had all the important stuff put away and had begun the process of packing a weeks worth of stuff for my family.

On Monday we flew into New Orleans and made the drive to Baton Rouge. There was a big hang up here with the rental car company who shall remain nameless (Enterprise...They pick you up.) They closed at six and our fight got in at six thirty. We were stranded. We had to go rent a car on OUR DIME to get to the hotel. We pulled our lovely mini van into the hotel about nine o'clock that night.(We were lucky to get that car as there were only 2 available vehicles there that night.)

The hotel had no cribs. We had to split up and each sleep with a kid as my son or daughter would probably have ended up smothered in the night. Apparently no one travels with young children in Baton Rouge.

On Tuesday we started looking for an apt. To hunker down in until we could find a nice house in a good part of town. The first place we went was full but she directed us to other places. While talking to her I started to pick her brain about the area. She said that the schools were crappy and that most people put their children in private schools. She also said that there were much better schools in the Livingston Parish which was on the outskirts of town. You guessed it. We were on our way to the outskirts! We ended up in a lovely little town called Denham Springs.

To make this long story short. (I'm sure I've lost plenty of readers already!) We found a great house in this little town. We put an offer on it and we found out Saturday that it was accepted! I'm so excited I think I just peed a little! It has a porch! A real porch! Anyway...On with my saga. So far our closing is scheduled for the 16th of January.

We aren't sure of our exact moving date. We have heard rumblings about them sending CCB back out for a few days this week but so far nothing concrete has been planned. They promised they would have him back for Christmas though. It looks like we will have to spend our first couple of weeks living out of a hotel room. That doesn't excite me at all but it will be worth it when we finally get to move into our new home. I could gush about how much I love it but I won't bore you.

**side note**
I think you should know that I missed you all. It'll take me a while to catch up on you so please be patient.

Have a terrific Monday!

We've missed you. Glad you found the perfect house. I hope you are far enough North to be out of Hurricane territory. Living in that Hotel for a few weeks will be worth it, just be patient. Good luck on your move. Merry Christmas!

I could have told you how Baton Rouge hates children who sleep in cribs. But you never asked.

Who are these people who design vehicles, businesses and systems for people with no kids? When my kids were small I remember stopping at Family Motels where there were rooms with only a double bed...however, that's nitpicky, I guess...one day those designers will have kids of their own and will the shit hit the fan! Take deep breaths, keep the beer and the Advil handy and you'll make it. Have the best possible holiday, and do get some porch photos posted.
