Back on track!

I am happy to report that we now have insurance! We are paying through the nose but we have it! Rates are inflated because of Katrina so we are stuck with a higher rate for a while and we are required to carry flood insurance because of the Parish (county) we live in. Let's just hope we don't have to pay those higher rates for too awful long.

Things seem to be on track with our mortgage although we don't get to close on the 16th like planned. I guess it has something to do with a little ole' holiday called Martin Luther King day. I have been without a real calendar for so long I had no idea! I knew that my daughter didn't have school but I didn't know why. I'm such a dork sometimes. So now we are closing on the 17th I guess.

I think I might have a little bit of freedom. I have been tethered to our room for most of the time we've been here. Playing phone tag with everyone. Being the middle woman really stinks. For instance. The title company contacted the mortgage company because they wondered why we had such big deposits into our accounts. If the title company can view my accounts why do I need to obtain written proof for my mortgage company? Why can't they check it out themselves? I mean if the title company can? I explained to them already that the company my husband works for was paying us a chunk of money to cover moving expenses. Does ANYONE listen to me? ARG!

I think I'm starting to ramble. I bet you can't wait till I have something besides this whole move crap to chat about.

Take care!

Oh good, I am glad you got it worked out. Sorry it has to be so expensive though. But it seems when you solve one problem, another pops up.

Oh, I coudl give you a good rant about the so-called service industries, but you probably have worked out that client interests are not their primary concern. Hope things calm down for you soon.

In the area you have moved to, you should have flood insurance. It really doesn't cost that much. I know that we are paying $ 247.00 a year for our house and that is on a $ 115,000.00 house. We have friends who didn't have flood insurance and a really bad storm came thru and did $ 47,000.00 in damage. Now what's better, $ 247. or $ 47,000.? Like one of our bloggers would say, "Better Safe than Sorry." I hope those other insurance rates go down, but it usually takes about two years, without a storm, for them to go back down. If you got mold insurance along with you reg. insurance then it will cost you an arm and a leg....Good luck! Glad you are back. My husband and I have never been to a closing that happened on it's scheduled date.

I can never spend enough time blogging because Im busy with my own real estate work, but I enjoyed your site. Too brief a visit, but thanks for the insight. Visit my site if you have a chance.
