I don't have anything fun or interesting to post today. I'm a little distracted. My father-in-law is having surgery for prostate cancer today. My thoughts are with him today as I wait for the phone to ring. Being so far away is even harder in these sort of situations. I always feel better if I can BE there to see how the person looks and make my own assessment of the situation. Instead we have to wait and hear their report.
I adore this man. I call him Mcguyver because I swear he can fix just about anything. He helped me remodel my kitchen in the old house. He drove 4 hours to Santa Fe to help me move less than a block from one apt. to another. I could go on and on but at the risk of boring you I will stop and simply say he is a wonderful man. I LIVE to make this man laugh, it is so infectious! I wish I could be there to lift his spirits today.
I hope I didn't bum you all out.

Thanks guys. I knew I could count on you. It's been 4 hours since I last heard anything. No one is answering their phones either! ARG! I hate being in the dark!

The Sweet One's dad had a similar situation a few years ago and it all went SO well so I am very confident that your FIL will be in great hands and do just fine! I'll say a prayer for him.
And now...I'm going to call my dad and tell him that I love him ;O)
hope all goes well, and personally, I think a blog is exactly the place to indulge in this....
It's been 8 hours and 45 minutes since I last talked to my mother in law. Finally someone called me back. His first round of radiation went well. The 16 ports they put in his back are starting to hurt since the meds are wearing off. He goes back for his second and final round of radiation in about 30 minutes.
Thank you all very much your kindness does wonders for me.
It's horrible when someone you love is suffering so far away, you must feel so powerless that you can't go and give a hug to those who need it.
Thinking of you at this time, I hope there'll be good news very soon!
