My CCB had the weekend off so I'm feeling pretty pleased today. He only has every other weekend off so believe me when I say that I look forward to those weekends. I had really slipped into the dumps last week after hearing about my sister in laws anniversary weekend. I wasn't jealous because I adore my sister and brother in law and they deserved a lovely anniversary. It just reminded me of how long it had been since I had any alone time with my husband.
The last time we spent a night away from our daughter was when I was pregnant with my son, he is two now! The last time we had a date night without the children was....Well.....To be honest I can't even remember! I have been really focused on this for about a week. I think about it from time to time but this week it was intense.
So who would have thought the 2 hours I spent out in the yard raking leaves and ripping plants out of the ground would have been so satisfying. We didn't have any deep conversations, there was plenty of time we didn't talk at all. We were able to play, wrestle, and just be us for two whole hours. (My son took his nap and my daughter was sucked into some t.v. show.) That closeness continued through the rest of his time off. I can't tell you how much good this weekend did me. It wasn't a fancy dinner and a movie but did the trick! I guess I just need to be a little more creative in finding "us" time. (At least until we meet people we can trust to care for my kiddies.)
Switching gears now, I watched Cruel Intentions last night. In case you haven't seen it it's a teeny bopper version of Dangerous liaisons. Know what channel it was on? ABC FAMILY! Yeah, nothing says wholesome family goodness like a movie about deceit and sexual conquest.
Have a great Monday everyone!

Awwww, I'm glad you two got to spend some time together! But good luck finding a dependable babysitter...they are hard to come by.
Btw, they show some crazy stuff on what are supposed to be family channels.
I liked the spoof done in not another tv movie! It was awesome!
that's cool that you got to hang with the hubby a little bit. If you pay for my plane ticket I'll come down and watch your kids for you...I'm GREAT with kids (I'm not joking, I really am, I secretly want to be an art teacher for little ones!)
Dave and I used to live in a house where the only cable TV outlet was in our bedroom; on Saturday mornings, we pushed the TV out in the hallway where we'd left breakfast fixings for the kids and "slept" till noon. Everybody needs something like that.
but the end of that movie is awesome! she sure gets hers. plus it shows what a good actress sarah m.g. is. so much more than buffy!
glad you had fun in the yard!
