I got quite a surprise last night. While I was making dinner I got a phone call. I glanced at the caller i.d. and figured it was my husband telling me the traffic was gonna slow his trip home. Then, just as I clicked the "talk" button it dawns on me that it said CO at the end of cell phone. CO is Colorado. I figured it was my sister-in-law, she said she was gonna give me a call. This was not a good time for a 2 hour conversation!
I said hello and the voice that replied was NOT my s.i.l.. It was T. Remember her? She is that old friend of mine that I told you about. The one I had grown apart from. I called her a while back just to see how she was doing and see if I had given up on the friendship too soon or not. When we said goodbye last time she said she would give me a call. That was nearly 2 months ago. I had given up on her and figured that she was just brushing me off. I decided that my decision to step away was a good one. Then I got this call yesterday.
There were some similarities in the conversation. Lots of talk about her. The new RV they bought. The trips they were planning. Yadda yadda. (I could care less what sort of money a person makes or what they own. It depends on the person inside so all this material talk annoys me.) Then guess what? She asked about US! I was floored! I don't know if she was really interested or just being nice but it was a refreshing change! I was a little distracted since I was cooking ( a new recipe no less) and trying to appease my son but it was kind of a nice surprise. I don't know where this will go. I don't have any high expectations but it seems there is still something there. We will see.
I made the most delicious Dark Chocolate tart last night. MMMM! It's a keeper. This has nothing to do with the rest of the post but I had to throw it in. :P

As long as she keeps up interest in your life, I wouldn't brush her off quite yet. :-)
Btw, I'm hungry for chocolate now for some strange reason!!!
Well, well, well...looks like someone is trying to turn over a new leaf perhaps! I'm glad you got to talk to her and it was a two way conversation as opposed to the normal one sided ones.
I would LOVE the recipe for your dark choc tart. I LOVE dark chocolate...
I know what you mean about when friends ring up to talk about themselves, those Christmas Round Robins really get my goat too.
Oooh chocolate cake! You've tantalised us now by saying how gorgeous it is, you'll have to post the recipe!
I always give people the benefit of the doubt until they've hit me at least 4 times and keyed my car.
