You keep a knockin'.......

We had a bit of excitement last night. Something very unexpected. CCB and I were about to turn in for the evening. It was about 10:30 and I was just climbing on CCB's back to give him a back rub. When I heard knocking at my front door. I don't know how long they had been knocking because you can barely hear anything in my bedroom. So CCB bounds out of bed and heads to the door. I threw on some pants and headed for the phone. When you get a phone call or someone pounding on your door late at night you just KNOW it's gonna be bad. I was poised to pound 911 into the phone if there was trouble. He opens the door to find two women.

The woman apologized over and over and said she wasn't trying to be nosy. She told my husband that she could see our bedroom light from her kitchen and she became alarmed when the light was flashing on and off. Her and her daughter came to see if we needed any help or if we were in danger.

First of all let me tell you that in all the places we have lived I don't think anyone would have ever taken the initiative to come and check on us. I think these women were very brave! They thought we were in trouble and came to help. Who knew what sort of situation they were going to encounter as they approached my dark porch. They have never even met us and yet they came! Looks like I have more cookies to make. It's time to introduce myself to the neighbors and thank them for coming to our "aid".

After the excitement was over I got to thinking of how the situation could have gone and it gave me the giggles. What if my husband had answered the door in some leather get up instead of his South Park Jammies? What if he said "My wife would come meet you but she's a little tied up at the moment." HA HA HA! Could you imagine? It still makes me smile! What a way to meet the neighbors!

WAIT! If they can see my light.......What else can they see???? *blushing* Heh Heh Heh. I guess I'll be buying heavier curtains.

What? What was the deal with the light you ask? As near as I can tell the motion of the ceiling fan had loosened the light bulb. It actually started the blinking the night before. I was on my way to bed and told my husband I would check it out in the daylight. Wellllllllll in the daylight I didn't need to turn on the light so I forgot all about it! Last night while I was in the bathroom getting ready for bed my husband was in the living room catching up on the sports scores so neither of us saw the light doing it's thing. After our visit we took the globe part off and tightened it up. We'll see if that solves the problem. I have never had a fan on a dimmer switch so I don't know if that would cause problems or not. I guess we'll see!

I'm off to bake cookies. I'm about out of brown sugar so I think we'll be making Cocoa Crinkles.

Sure Happy It's Thursday!

People just live in their own little worlds these days, so it really is remarkable that someone was looking out for you. That's nice to know.

You're lucky you have such observant neighbours. Mind you, my neighbours go beyond observant, it's like living above the thought police which is a double edged sword.
