Is it really Monday already? I think the weekend went by way to fast. Then again, it seems that way most of the time.
On Saturday I was cutting the stalks off my amaryllis plants in the front yard when I felt a pain in my right ankle. When I looked down I saw that I had been standing in an ant hill. The little freaks were swarming all over my foot! I quickly stepped back and started furiously brushing them off. I'm sure I was quite a source of entertainment for the neighbors! When I got it cleared I realized they had swarmed my other foot too! So I repeated the furious brushing thing all over. I finished cutting my stalks and went to the backyard where I received sympathy from CCB. He checked out my bites and put medicine on them. Then he promptly scattered plenty of poison to kill the little mutha's.
That night we had a hum dinger of a rain storm. We had weather alerts popping up on the t.v. all night. I wasn't worried about the rain as I was the wind. They were saying that we could get wind in excess of 60 miles an hour. I don't think I have told you but I have a crappy tree in the front yard that has caused plenty of service calls from the electric company. We plan to have it taken out but right now it still stands. The last thing I want is to be the neighbor who took out everyone's power. The wind wasn't as bad as they predicted and the tree is still intact. I gotta get some estimates!
Sunday we went to a mall we had never tried before. My husband was drawn to a store called Steve and Barry's. It's got all sorts of college apparel. I stayed outside the store and let the kids play in the play area while he checked it out. Shortly before he returned the signs in the window caught my eye. Everything $6.98. Did you hear me? EVERYTHING for $6.98! He came back and said I HAD to go in so we packed up the kiddo's and checked it out. Sure enough everything t-shirts,jeans, shorts, hats, and varsity jackets! I grabbed a couple pairs of capri pants a pair of shorts and a shirt. Due to my sons behavior I decided not to try them on in the store. Now I get to return 2 pairs of capri pants and a pair of shorts. Apparently Steve and Barry's clothes are made for very VERY skinny people. I thought maybe the shorts I picked up were misplaced items from the girls dept. ZIP IT! A girl can dream! Oh well. CCB has to return a shirt too. I guess we'll be making a return trip. GET IT!
My son....*sigh* my son. He was the most adorable boy Sunday morning. Big ole' cheeseburger grins and giggles all morning. THEN it happened. He has this new thing where he screams at the top of his lungs and is saying what I'm sure is the equivalent of baby cursing. So when he doesn't get his way we hear about it....Everyone hears about it. Then I get the stares. I know those stares! The "What a snot" stares and the "what a terrible mother" stares. We didn't stay long at the mall. Matter of fact we only went to one store. He was a little overdue in his nap so we opted to leave. It's amazing how two children with the same parents can be so SO different. I'm working on the screaming issue but it makes me sad that people might think he is a rotten kid, when they didn't get to see the sweet boy I saw all morning.
On the Today show this morning I heard a phrase that puzzled me. They talked about "The Criminalization of Illegal immigrants". Forgive me if I'm an idiot but when someone does something illegal aren't they considered a criminal? Hmmm...

I love love love S&B's!!! They have some fantastic deals, but I agree, some of their clothing is for really skinny girls. That's why I usually stick with the men's department. But, I finally did find some jeans there in my size...they are now my favs! We love checking them out around football season when they get out their jersey's and coats. In fact, all of our winter coats (including my son's) are from S&B's.
My office mate had the same thing happen, with the ants. ouch!
The ants sound scary. I hope they go in peace.
I wish we had a store here where everything was $6.98! I would get my fat ass in those capri's if it killed me! ha ha
I have the same tree issue OGO! I have called the utility co a million times and they either put me off or come out and say "it's not an immediate risk". Let me tell you, when there are limbs resting on wires, the tree is HUGE, and I am at risk of being the neighbor who shuts down the whole hood i consider it an enormous risk! They are idiots. Good luck getting it taken down. I wish I could but it would cost me an arm and a leg AND I don't think I'm allowed to. One of my neighbors told me that the tree apparently belongs to the county - isn't that weird?
Oh and "The Criminalization of Illegal immigrants". - I don't even understand that statement...what was the context? What were they trying to say?
I step in red ant hills all the time at my in-loves house...they live on a farm and it is swarming with the "muthas" I scream and stomp around like a little girl...much like I imagine you did!
Ants are horrible, I'm itching just thinking about them!
Most of the stores up here charge you $6.98 to get in.
I had a sure-fire strategy for the-devil-takes-over-your-kid, and I've used it on all my kids and all my grandkids. I just pick them up, put on my don't-you-dare-to-judge-us face and walk to the car; then I stay there until they scream themselves to sleep. It hellps if you always have a book in the car.;)
kids express themselves in different ways. At least he gets it out.
