My babysitting duty is done. I couldn't be happier. I know that might sound kinda ugly but it's the truth. The baby was a sweetie, she didn't cause me any trouble, she was angelic. My days were somewhat chaotic though. Someone always "needed" me. I was happy to be able to help out but I'm MORE happy that things are going back to normal.
I got my Senseo coffee maker today! It is a "for reals" coffee pot! I haven't brewed any coffee in it yet. I just ran the water through like the booklet said. Wednesday morning will be the true test. I'm betting it will taste fabulous. You know why? IT WAS FREE! It even came with a bag of coffee pods. It couldn't have come at a better time. I was one pot away from being out of my own coffee. Did I mention it was FREE?!?!?
Neighbor and I are supposed to walk Wednesday morning. We haven't been able to the last two days. I've really missed it.
I know you all could care less but I've had two very successful batches of bread in the last week and a half. I've been trying off and on for years to make good bread. I think I may have turned a corner. It may sound silly but it makes me happy. The first success was wheat baguettes. FABULOUS! Tonight I made a deep dish pizza with a whole wheat crust that was as light and tasty as could be! I don't even want to eat the chocolate cake I made for dessert because that pizza was just so darn delicious not to mention filling! I'm a dork. I know.
I'm almost finish with my afghan. I'm getting a late start this year. Something about gnarly heat takes the desire to sit under a hot afghan out of a girl. I'm trying to get blankets done for the people I didn't make them for last Christmas. That way they can all snuggle up in a blanket sewn with love. It'll be like a big hug from me...*GAG* I just think they are thoughtful gifts ok?
Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Now that I've made afghans for every living relative, I'm going to have to learn to make baskets so that they don't have to actually leave them out.
I LOVE my afghan! It's one of the first items I snagged when heather and I got divorced. Thanks again.
I've always enjoyed homemake gifts.
I use whole wheat all the time. I remember the first time I tried to make homemake whole wheat bread, it turned out like a brick. I have learned all the tricks now and I love it. My husband is so spoiled that he hardly eats "store bought" bread any more. Another thing you can do is use a bread machine to make your bread in. I have an Oster bread machine and it also makes pizza dough. You can start your bread before going to bed and it will be ready when you wake up in the morning. It is wonderful to wake up to the smell of homemade bread....Yumm.
If you would like, I can give you some wonderful recipes. If you use whole wheat, I can hook you up with a good wheat grinder and you can grind your own wheat. I can even tell you where you can buy 25 to 50 lbs. of whole wheat.
Lorna- I think you might be on to something there! I could have gifts for the next couple of years!
Shane- You got my first EVER completed afghan. I'm glad YOU got to keep it.
Lucy- I would love some great whole wheat recipes! The only bread maker bread I've had has been pretty dense. Is there a way around that?
Senseo!!!!! I am so jealous! My in-laws have one and my mom has one and every time i go to visit I get a cup and it is the best thing ever!!! How on earth did you get one for free???? Do let me in on your secret.
oh yeah...one more thing...don't be afraid to use the decaf...I have never been a decaf drinker until recently. The senseo decaf tastes like the regular stuff. I drink it at night after dinner...good stuff!!!
I love making pizza crust - and calzones. I also love making bread, I love it warm out of the oven, but mostly I love the smell. I'd love to try the wheat baguets if youfelt like sharing the recipe.

Sounds like you are having a wonderful time. I envy you. But not in a bad way, in a wistful way.
Send me an email at lucy.stern@mail.com and I'll send you some recipes and tips on cooking good whole wheat bread.
I'm with ya on the afgan making...I hate working on them in the middle of summer. But now that it's cooler, I'm hoping to finally finish my hubby's OSU blanket.
