Turkey day went off without a hitch. The turkey came out moist and juicy and right on time. We stuffed ourselves and played games all day, it was great!
Today.....They fly back home. Just typing that makes me have to fight back tears. I love my new home and CCB likes his new job. Still, I miss having family close by. I'm able to put all those feelings on the back burner most of the time but having someone visit brings them flooding back. My daughter spent her first years hanging out with her uncles and cousins and grandparents. My son hasn't had that luxury. He's missing out on them all! He adored his visitors, and when he realizes they won't be back for dinner he's gonna be heartbroken. That's not gonna help me with my own issues.
Well, I'm off to reclaim my house. *sniff* I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving or a Terrific Thursday! (Depending on where you live.)*sniff*

We did absolutely nothing for Thanksgiving, and it was as wonderful as I could have imagined. We just had a good old fashioned family day.
I know what you mean about not having family around. It's tough for us to not have our kids growing up around their grandparents. I think it's a very important thing, but unfortunately I just can't make a living doing what I do back in Nebraska. So until that happens, we're stuck in AZ!
Have a great weekend.

It is hard when everybody goes back; of if you have to leave your family when you go back somewhere. Worse though, and by a long shot, would be just not to give a damn.
Maybe if you talk nice to them they will visit again..
I totally know what you are talking about! My mom just left to fly back to Raleigh today...I miss her!
We had all of our kids here again this year. TF picked Bonnie up at the airport at 10:00pm. Wednesday night and I took her back to the airport today at 1:30pm. Can you believe that she brought home a suitcase of dirty cloths to wash? We did have a very busy day, but it was wonderful having everyone here for Thanksgiving.
It is hard having your family living far away, but you do still have family to love. I really missed not having my dad here again this year, he died 6 years ago. He was always in charge of the turkey and dressing and I miss not seeing him cutting up onions and celery and making the cornbread for the dressing.
The weather here in Houston was perfect for the day with the temps. in the low 70's.
