Tip of the day

I've been complaining a lot lately, probably because of all the hours CCB has been putting in. I think I'm having hubby withdrawals. I need a fix! :) Today I have something I was exited about so I'll share with you.

I got some paper from the Walmart greeter the other day. She didn't explain what it was she just shoved it out in my direction so I took it. It turns out it was the listing of the drugs that are having the prices cut to 4 dollars. My medication was on it but not my husbands. However there was a generic form for his cholesterol medicine. SO I called te doc to see if the generic was the same thing and if we could have the prescription changed to the cheaper one. It would save 21 dollars a pop. The nurse told me,"The doctor is reductant to change his meds because they have been working so well for him." Yes I realize I said REDUCTANT, that was her word. I agreed that if the generic wasn't the same we shouldn't change. She told me she had some samples she could give me though. She didn't have his 40mg tablets but she had some 80mg tablets that we'd just have to cut in half. I picked it up today. It's 3 months worth of Lipitor that I have to cut in half which makes 6 months of the stuff! That is 150 dollars I won't be spending on drugs! Talk about pleased! I can hardly type because I'm doing my happy dance!

I was talking to Neighbor about it while I was hanging Christmas lights yesterday and she called her doc and she got samples for free too! Hers was a savings of 130 dollars! I know this time of year can be hectic and money can be tight so it's worth it to ask your doc.

So there you go.

LBB- Your comment reminds me of something my husband says. It's too naughty for my wholesome blog. *wink*

Good for you! It's always good to get a bargain. It's a shame you can't give all the Walmart staff free happy pills!

PS - I didn't know this blog was wholesome, I'll have to stop reading :)

OGO - you don't get rid of me that easy (though what you said reminds me of a dirty joke my 71 year old mother told me!)

Ann-Dirty jokes are even funnier when they come from "older individuals"! My grandma cracks me up!

I love doctors who are so willing to give out sample medications. When I was having major sleeping problems, my doctor gave me a few packs of Lunesta, and three days later I was told to call back and tell her if they worked. They did, and so they wrote me a prescription. When I went to fill it, I found out that those little Lunesta pills cost, and realized that my doctor had given me a little over $50 worth of free pills. I was freaking out about that! Free stuff is always great, but free medicine is even better!

Lipitor is prohibitively expensive, and I'm shocked to find that they make an 80mg pill! I thought 40 was scary when it was prescribed for me---I cut out cream and butter, I started exercising more, but I still can't seem to get below the 40mg size. I thought I was at the top of the Lipitor range....now I'm feeling better and might go butter some toast...
