Saturday I bought a new pair of dress shoes for church. A pair of black leather sling backs fit the bill just fine.
Sunday after church we stopped and got some lunch at Wendy's. I over heard a conversation between a girl, her mother, and her grandmother. They were talking about how the grandmother took the girl to get a pair of shoes and how the girl thought they were "grandma shoes". The grandma stood her ground and denied that they were old lady shoes until a stranger turned and confirmed that they were indeed to "old" for a young girl.
When they were ready to leave the grandma walked past my table and out of curiosity I glanced at her shoes. They were very similar to the shoes I bought the day before!
Does that make me old? It would appear I have the same taste in shoes as this lovely gray haired granny! Or is the grandma hip?

Oy! I'm gonna go with that Granny was a hip cool granny! ha ha...
That age-gap thing---it never lowers its ugly head. And what's wrong with a granny in thigh-high boots? As long as she goes easy on the metallic lip gloss it should be all right
Granny must have rocking good taste in shoes!
first of all, how rude of the stranger to put their two cents in the conversation! Doesn't the granny feel old enough already without everyone else pointing out her lack of fashion sense???
Who cares what other people think. You love the shoes and that is all that matters.
I've seen some of the shoes the young people wear and my feet hurt just looking at them. I think I'll take the "granny" shoes and be confortable.
No. You just had church on your mind when you bought them.
Well, if you bought them specifically for church, I think you're off the hook. But I hope you have some exciting ones hiding in your closet at home too.
