When it comes to food my family is picky. My hubby doesn't like veggies unless it's a salad or a baked potato. My daughter well, she doesn't like much period. My son is somewhere in between. He's my last hope for getting to eat some of the things I like.
Anyway.....I started asking my family for "requests" it was my attempt to get them more involved with meal planning and hopefully get my daughter to eat more. So far it's been working. We have nights where she only picks at her food but I alternate them with requests so that on the other nights she eats like a lumberjack. Last night was supposed to be one of those nights.
She had requested meatball subs. I knew my hubby would be on board with that so I went to work early in the day making my meatballs and chillin' them in the fridge. When it got close to the time my husband got home I started putting all the goods together. I had the meatballs simmering in the sauce and the house smelled great. I was SO getting brownie points with this dinner.
My son asked if I could help him with his game (Star Wars of course)so I went to lend a hand. I figured CCB would be home any minute so I was safe. I SWEAR it only felt like five minutes. I became aware that the fabulous smell had changed some. I ran to check and it was scorching on the bottom! How long had I been playing? I looked at the clock and it had been 30 minutes! 30 MINUTES! I start the salvage operation on dinner but my mind starts wondering,"Where is CCB? He should have been here by now." I decide to get dinner on the table for the kids and I. I'd just have to reheat his when he got here. 20 minutes later he still isn't home. I called his cell. No answer. Now I'm getting worried. Where could he be? Was he in an accident? Then it dawns on me. He wasn't coming home till after 9! I planned this meal on a night he was working late. THEN I ruined it because I was waiting for him. Have I ever told you that I'm a putz? Well I am.

Um I think you get some special points when you become a mom. Really we're all putz's at some point.
Hope what you could save was at least good.
Didn't mean to laugh at your misfortune but I couldn't help myself ;)
I hate food planning! It stresses my husband and I out, because we often disagree and have different preferences.
That's what takeaway pizza is for! Have a great weekend!
Mrs Thistletwat got it right. And I have to hope she's self-named.
I was boiling some eggs the other night and forgot to set the timer. I clicked open my emails and started to read them. Time got away from me too and I almost burned up the eggs and my pan. Thankfully I lucked out and didn't ruin either one......
