How about a little sharing?

I thought today I'd share some of my favorite tips or tricks and you can leave some of your own. I thought it would be cool to see what sorta tips and hints other people use in their daily life.

Cinnamon candy like Brachs cinnamon disks work fantastic on a sore throat and don't leave you with medicine breath. (My mom taught me that one.)

I like to buy big packs of steaks etc. and package them in meal size portions for the freezer. I pour in marinade before I put them in the freezer so that when I thaw them they are marinating at the same time.

I recently found out that a clogged gas cap on your lawn mower can make it stop running. We replaced the spark plug cleaned the air filter and nothing. We washed the gas cap and it purrs like a kitten. Who knew? Thank you internet DIY sites!

Raid ant killer spray works great for removing scuff marks from kitchen floors.

What tips do you have?

You can use instant grits on fire ant piles instead of fire ant killer (with the poison in it)... works slower than the poison stuff but still works and it won't kill your dog or cat or whatever else strolls through your yard.

I use baby wipes get deoderant spots off of my dark colored clothes.

to make the car smell good, sometimes I'll put a dryer sheet or two under the two front seats.

Freeze water bottles and when you take food in a cooler/container for a picnic or day out you can use the water bottles to keep your food cold and as they melt you can drink them - usually by the time you're ready to eat.

I use Neutragena (sp?) face wipes/makeup removers at night to take off makeup and when I'm done I used the other side to wipe down the bathroom sink, door handles, etc if it needs it in between cleanings.

Funky bee- Those are great! I like the dryer sheet one. I use baby wipes all over the house too!

Dryer sheets are also good for dusting the furniture. I will take a used dryer sheet and wipe my coffee table and lamp stand after I fold clothes. They are great for picking up dust.

A little peroxide and water will take stains out of your carpet. I use this on really tough stains.

funky bee - I love that frozen water bottle idea. I'm going to try it.

Chocolate kills bad breath.

I read this in a magazine once and found it reason to keep Hershey's kisses nearby. A little bit of sweetness and no more stinky breath. :-)

Vitamin C tablets on cold sores in your mouth, stink like hell but help them heal quicker.

I always used this one when my son was younger.

Make up the bed/cot in layers - waterproof sheet, sheets/blanket, another waterproof sheet, sheets/blanket etc.

Then if for some reason the sheets need changing in the middle of the night (sick baby, soaked through nappy/diaper) then there's no making up the bed at 3am, you just rip off the top layer and you're good to go (back to bed ;) hehe).

Pam spray your Tupperware before putting tomato sauce in them & they won't stain.

Cut 2 pieces of cake or pie out before attempting to take the 1st one off the plate...that way it comes out easier.

Lucy-I'm going to try your peroxide and water tip. The previous owners of our house left some tough stains behind.

Bekah-Yet one more important reason to eat chocolate!

Myutopia- I could have used that tip a month ago!

Caramaena- I used to do that with my babies! It is sure I time saver in the middle of the night!

Chick- I've heard of that tupperware trick but I always forget to spray my tupperware first! Needless to say I have lots of orange bowls. I like the pie tip too. The first one always gets damaged alone.

To stop sticking doors rub a normal wax candle on the bottom of the door and the threshold where it's sticking. It's saved me a fortune in carpenters in the past!

I know nothing---I only use things, prosaically, the way they're supposed to be used, but I do admire that ingenuity. I just may start to clean the sink with my make-up remover, but since I'm so blind I can't see the dirt, I can't see the clean either....but I can still smell it.
