Mindless babbling

I saw yet another story pitting stay at home moms against working moms this morning. Do you know how tired I am of hearing these arguments? Do mothers really have these grudges in real life or is this drummed up in the media? You wanna know what I think? I think each mom should do what is best for her and her family. Who cares what anyone else thinks. If you and your family are happy with the decision then it was the right one. Nuff said.

Yesterday on the way home from Baton Rouge we discovered we had a flat tire. Luckily there was a Walmart right across the street so we didn't have far to drive to get it fixed. CCB put our spare tire on and we went to Wally World. They told us they couldn't fix it because they closed in half an hour and still had other cars to work on. *sigh* Of course. We couldn't get off that easy could we? I'm about tired of these car issues. Let's see we had a dead battery, clutch problem, and now flat tires. That's just been in the last 2 months. Did I mention that they found butt loads of other problems with the truck but I didn't opt to fix them because we plan on getting rid of it soon? NOW I'm afraid to drive the darn thing! I'm a dork.

Has anyone ever tried Shrimp and Gravy? I have a new recipe I'm going to try from my favorite recipe site, called Charleston Shrimp 'n' Gravy. It is supposed to be served over grits, biscuits or rice. I'm making whole wheat rolls to go with it. We will either be stuffed if it's good or headin' for the border if it's icky! Wish me luck!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

********The recipe was FABULOUS!*********

Shrim and gravy sounds like a plea for a heart attack---but tasty! who am I to talk? I made lemon raisin buns for breakfast this morning (Dave's birthday) and we ate all 10 of the covered-in-icing babies between us.....

I know a lot of working in the home moms and a lot of working outside the home moms and I have never seen any of them have any issues with each other. Sounds like the mainstream media had another slow news week.

I feel ya on the car issue....we're planning on getting another vehicle in the next month or two so we're just driving this one on a wing and a prayer!

You have had a bad run with car issues. I feel for you.

This stay at home vs working is a pointless argument, it's like comparing apples and oranges. Everybody's individual circumstances are different, there is only one right answer and that is THE ONE THAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU!!

Car problems, sigh, I've just spent 700 usd on mine for servicing and repairs, and my tax is due this month. Like I said before, if it's got tyres or testicles you're gonna have trouble.

I don't understand the general "competition" between moms - SAHM or working moms. Everyone has their opinion and their own way of doing things, why can't we (moms in general) just be fine with that? Why do we have to turn on each other like rabid wolves? That's the main reason I refuse to join mommy groups and online sites like cafemom.com. Too much bitching about each other.

My granddaughter Beth, age 11, is here and we are busy looking for recipies to try on the crowd. We're going to try yours today. Thanks for sharing.

Moms are moms and dealing with their circumstances as best they can. I've heard of the rivalry but those who can take time to participate definitely don't have a clue about real life.

OMG - The recipe looks amazing. I think I'm gonna try it tonight!

About the Stay at home vs. working moms, I don't get it either...I mean, it has to be the media hyping it up b/c I can't imagine women are walking around begrudging one another over this choice. It's so lame! You do whatever works for you.

Oh, and cars are dumb!

Honestly, I am a "working" mom (sounds so dumb because we all work) and I much prefer my job. I couldn't do the stay at home thing. Love my kids, but I would not be good at it and the boys would suffer because of it. I think the media and some disgruntled women have made it out to be more than it is. Even if I didn't "have" to work (which I do) I probably would because I've found my kids are getting better prepared for school at daycare. I'm a HORRIBLE teacher.
