Ha!

My husband took me and our family to a new restaurant the other night. It's only been open a few months and we decided it was time to check it out. We walked in and the place was beautiful. They seated us right away and we got to drooling over the menu. We thought we might be in a little trouble when the waitress got confused on what condiments we wanted for our sons burger but that could happen to anyone right?

So the waitress brings us our drinks and my salad. A few minutes later she comes back and asks if we want the ticket now or if we want to hang around for a little longer. I look up at her and smile because I'm sure she's making a joke but her face is as serious as can be! I said,"We'd like to eat our dinner before we pay the ticket." She looked confused at this statement. She looked around our table and then realized she was talking to the wrong table. She explained that she was really tired and she felt really stupid. I thought it was funny! She did fine for the rest of the meal but I'll always remember that restaurant as the one who wanted us to pay our bill before we had anything to eat.

I've never heard "the ticket" used that way before---it makes great sense, but it was my first ticket time. Is that a southern expression?

What was it? (You can email me if you don't wanna share that here... I'm just curious to see if Mark and I need to check it out next time we're that way...)

I've been to some restaurants that should have collected the money before they served the meal! At least you can object by the amount of tip you leave or don't leave. Sounds like your wait person handled the situation well.

Well at least she wasn't like the one you mentioned here.

I actually saw a sign the other day on a restaurant that I frequent for lunch that says something like "Under 18 must pay in advance..." How sad is it that we've come to that? You know they must have been ripped off so many times by kids that they had to do this.
