The hits keep coming

First of all my beloved CCB is doing much better. He wasn't as ready for work today as he thought he'd be. He still has one incision that's still kinda "open" and he'd been getting fatigued really easily. He sees the surgeon on Wednesday for a check-up and he's decided not to return till he's seen the doc. *Eh em* That was my suggestion all along. I didn't think they'd write a work release without seeing the patient first. Anyway he's on the mend.

Guess what? This weekend our central air conditioner went out. It was a toasty 86 degrees in my house. My son's hair was plastered to his head and I was....well....I was cranky to the nth degree! We tried all the things I could think of to get it going and nothing. Today we find out that it didn't matter what I tried, the compressor was dead. The cost to replace the compressor is only slightly cheaper than an entire unit! What would it cost? 2900.00! Let me remind you that my hubby just got out of the hospital and we haven't even begun wading through their bills. After my initial shock wore off we called another company and they came in 800 dollars cheaper! It's still an expense I wasn't prepared for it's completely putting a crimp in my financial "plans".

Let's all hope that they get the unit replaced quickly so my family doesn't have to endure Cranky Mommy tonight!

Ugh, sorry to hear about the AC, but I'm totally glad that CCB is feeling better. Tell that guy to take it easy until he's feeling close to 100%!

I hope you have some cool air circulating by the time you get this comment!

yikes! that's a lot of money for something I'd consider essential.

Glad to hear CCB is on the mend.

I think you will find that they aren't going to let CCB go back as soon as he wants....TF had his surgery almost two and a half months ago and he still has to take a nap in the afternoon. He will sit down in his chair to read the news or check out some blogs and the next thing you know, he is asleep...I asked his mom (a retired surgical nurse) about this and she said that his body is still healing and it takes longer than you think to get back to normal...Good luck keeping him down, he doesn't need to tear some stitches or slow his healing.

While TF was out with his surgery, our freezer died, the dishwasher had died four months earlier and three weeks ago the washer machine died.... I went to home depot and bought a freezer and dishwasher when they had a promotion for 12 months, no interest/no payments. I knew by then that we could get it paid off. The washer we found at Lowes on the stratch and dent isle for $ 300.00. We paid for it from savings and it turns out that it is a top rated washer.

The last time our compressor went out, a company we formally used told us the same thing. We called our son-in-law who gave us the name of a man he worked with who could come take a look at it. He told us that it could be fixed but he didn't know how long it would last. He ended up fixing it for $ 240.00 and it is still running, that was last summer. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Hang in there and take the punches as they come.... What else can you do? Good luck!
