Holy Cow! It's MONDAY!

I keep meaning to write a post about the "slumber party" I was invited to a couple of weeks ago. I just keep finding myself pulled in other directions and now it's MONDAY! Sheesh!

I was invited to go to some festival this weekend but had to turn my neighbor down at the last minute. My daughter had an upset stomach and I couldn't drag her around feeling yucky so I cancelled. I'm sure she didn't believe my reason but it was for real.

Since I couldn't go to the wing ding I ended up painting our bedroom. It's a color called "cracker bits". Who names these colors? That's the job I want. Naming shades of paint. I think I could do it. "Chocolate milk barf" " Snot green" "Spit up" Mothers would totally get my colors!

I bought curtains a few weeks ago and now I'm not sure I like them with the new color. I thought I would but now I'm not sure. I hate when that happens.

My girl had to switch from the Trombone to the Clarinet for band. She was upset at first but after ONE day's practice she challenged the kid in the 8th seat and WON! She had been first chair trombone so she was really worried to have to start all over but I knew she would be great!

Oh, and I did go to that "slumber party" and my greatest fear was realized. I now know WAY more about my neighbors love life than I ever wanted to know! It was fun to have a little girl time though. I don't get that too often.

Whoa, is that how band works? You challenge people? Like when outlaws challenged each other to a duel back in the olden days?

Cracker bits? Really?!

I remember when I was in fifth grade we had to try out all the different mouthpieces for band...even if we didn't want to be in the band. I knew I wanted to be in choir, but NO, we had to try band out first...Grr. I never was able to play reeds at all. For some reason it just never worked right. The only one I actually managed to play was the flute, but that never went anywhere anyway.

Anywho...congrats OGO's daughter on a better seat! I remember that used to be such a big deal with the band folks.

fOK....Why did she have to change from trombone to clarinet? They are totally opposites...

Oh great One said...

Tim-Yeah it's a real showdown in the band room.

Stacey- Here it's band or gym. My daughter said she feels bad for the gym kids because they come to class all sweaty.

Lucy- The teacher thought she would be a good candidate for the trombone when he tested her. She did a great job and tested into the first chair....as time went on she couldn't get the tone he was looking for and suggested she change to clarinet. Much less stress for her.

Glad that CCB is feeling better. Looks like you're gonna have to take the curtains back. Much easier than repainting the room!

Okay, so explain the slumber party. Who was it with? Multiple neighbors or just one? Is she single?

Sounds like you're daughter is quite the musician. Keep encouraging her. That is just AWESOME!

I played clarinet in middle school and really loved it. I didn't have a choice, however... my grandfather and my mom both played it, as well. :-) Good luck to your daughter with it.
