Let's see....My daughter had her Christmas band concert on Tuesday evening. They played great! It is truly amazing to me that this one man can teach a room full of beginners to play different instruments all at the same time. He is an accomplished band teacher but still, the very idea is fantastic!
What else....her school had a talent show. It was held during the school day. If the kids wanted to watch the show they had to bring a dollar. No teacher had to work extra hours. Did I mention they have to pay if they want a school newspaper too? It's not that I can't swing the dollar for the show or the fifty cents for the newspaper. What bothers me is that if a kid can't spare the money he gets left out of a school event! They nickle and dime us every time we turn around. UGH.
I had deliberately NOT wrapped and put gifts under the tree to avoid the daily aggravation from my 3 year old. He's not that clear on the concept of time. Days and weeks BAH! what are those? That is, until last Tuesday. I wrapped a gift for the little girl who lives next door. For the rest of the afternoon all I heard was how we needed to deliver it. I explained that she wasn't home but that didn't matter. ALL DAY I heard this. After the concert we delivered the gift. Ahh relief.
Did I tell you that the gift I had ordered for my son from Walmart made it? It did. Now I'm just missing one for CCB. It was supposed to be here by the 17th. I've tried to track it but the tracking log hasn't been updated since the 14th. It said it was in Baton Rouge then. Has it been 15 minutes up the road for the last 7 days? It would appear that way.
I try to be extra cheery when I'm out at the stores during this time of the year. I know people are a little stressed. CCB had to step in and save me the other day though. I was looking in the baking aisle for chocolate to melt over peanut butter Ritz bits. (Sounds weird but it's fantastic! Salty. Sweet. YUM!) When this lady nearly rammed me with her cart! CCB said she gave me some ugly look before she stepped up to take the place he had just pulled me out of. MERRY CHRISTMAS LADY!
I'm done. No more running around near the stores till well after Christmas (knock on wood) I got all grocery shopping done yesterday. I don't want to even THINK about going near there till things chillax a little.
I hope you are all doing well. Relax. Enjoy yourself. Smile at all the crazies who want to ram you with their carts. Wave to those psycho drivers who just have to speed past you to the next traffic light. Whisper Merry Christmas as you pull up next to them at that next light! *GRIN*

Oh Lord OGO! The holidays are truly the time when people are nuts! I experienced 2 different people trying to fight me for my parking space the other day. The first one I just gave up b/c in this day of shooting people over crap like that I had no intention of participating...the second one wasn't so lucky! I'm no pushover. But it really is amazing how pathetic people can be when it's supposed to be such a "happy and festive" time of year! I just smile and curse them all in my head!
I know about those cart lunitics and the parking monsters. That's why I love to shop online! I wish you a Merry, Merry, Happy, Happy, Ho, Ho, Ho......See you again in 2008!
I love sweet and salty---especially if it's also chocolate. That's why i spent hours dipping pretzels into melted dark chocolate and letting them turn into something wonderful on a wax paper sheet. then i spent mere minutes eating more of them than any old granny should.
