The date that almost wasn't OR my burps taste amazing!

After deciding to exchange babysitting services with the neighbor we planned a date night for Sunday evening. It was sort of short notice so we really didn't have anything big planned. We just wanted a little alone time with each other. My hubby decided we needed to try some place we haven't been before so we looked at the online menu's at a few different places and chose a restaurant called the Bonefish Grill. We told our neighor we'd like to leave between 4 and 4:30. That was the plan.

About a quarter to four I started getting this sinking feeling since no one was home next door. We decided we'd wait till 4:30 before we would freak out. Four thirty rolled around and still no one. I sent my husband in to call their cell. (He tends to get quicker results than I do.) After many apologies we got out the door at 5. We decided to go straight to the restaraunt and try to avoid any rushes.

We have 2 children and most of our meals out are chosen by which toys are being given out in the childrens meals. So this was a big change for us. The food was incredible! I had grilled chicken with spinich, artichoke hearts and goat cheese on top with a side of steamed veggies. (I tried to make good choices!) The BANG BANG shrimp were fantastic! We were only in there for like an hour but it felt like the longest most luxurious meal ever. After that we just wandered around the Whole Foods store (I'd been wanting to check it out) and then the book store. It was so nice to sip my tall skinny cinnamon dolce latte (only 90 calories but tastes naughty) and peruse the books without having to spend the whole time in the childrens section.

We were only gone 2 1/2 -3 hours but it felt very leisurely and perhaps a bit decadent. We decided that we were going to try to go to new restaurants each time we get a date night. We really need to expand our culinary horizons. There is more to life than chicken nuggets and supersized fries.

Happy Monday to you!

Wow! Sounds like an awesome time OGO. You all deserve it. And, think of it this way, you all live in a culinary treasure chest of cuisines, you should absolutely explore different spots when you all have date nights. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Your chicken sounds so yummy!!

Our Bone Fish Grill is next to a Whole Foods, too. How strange. Maybe it's a Bone Fish/Whole Foods plan to take over the world.

Your title cracked me up.

That place has great salads!

So glad you got to have a date night...sounds like you both needed it.

I can't believe that you waited this long to discover a life other than McDonald's and fries. You and CCB really need more alone time together. You would be surprised that the kids like some alone time without mom and dad too.

That food sounds really good, now I am hungry and it's way too late to eat.

Ahhh, Date Night! I feel kind of guilty that Dave and I were quite rigorous about making sure we got out together without the kids, and now that my kids have kids and I could babysit, they're too tired for date night.
