Cat update whether you want it or not! :)

Well my cat is still sick. We are zeroing in on what may be the problem though so I'm hopeful. I spent the other evening snotting and balling all over myself because I was just sure he wouldn't make it through the night and if he did I figured I'd have to have him put to sleep to end his suffering. I woke up the next morning to a slightly improved cat. The doctor called today and said there was evidence of some bacterial infection so I had to go get an antibiotic for him. We have tried this before but it seems what he has is a tough strain. I asked if the infection could be the root of his problem as opposed to a tumor or cancer and he said it WAS possible but he's still not going to confirm or deny anything.

Ever given a cat medicine? Let me tell you it's a treat. NOT! I have to wrap him up in a towel (to keep from being shredded) and shoot the pills down his throat with a plunger sort of device(that protects my fingers from his sharp teeth). He has 3 decongestant tablets, 1 anti fungal tablet (precautionary) and now 2 doses of a liquid antibiotic. *SIGH* There is no question as to why his eyes dilate when he sees me comingI'm the one with the meds! He acts like he hates me but the truth is I'm the only one in this house that gives a darn about him. Everyone else just co-exists with him for my benefit! I've separated him from the other cat so I can see if he's eating or not. Up till now I couldn't tell and that worried me even more because it appeared he wasn't. We'll see.

Sorry about the lame post I probably sound like some weirdo cat lady, but you know, he's been my companion for nearly 16 years I'm a little attached to him. I remain cautiously optimistic. Thanks for your well wishes it makes me feel good to know that there are people who understand.

Have a fantastic weekend!

The only way we can give our cat pills is to smash them into powder and hide them in sardines in tomato sauce.

I hope he's better soon!

Dear weirdo cat lady,

Who cares if anyone thinks that?

I'm so sorry to hear about your sick kitty, and I hope he feels better soon and that it isn't anything serious. I always get upset when one of mine gets sick, so I know what that's like! And no, you're not a weirdo cat lady!!

I hope he continues to get better.

16 is middle age by my cat standards...my last kitty lived to be 21.

Well, as a weirdo cat lady myself, I am very familiar with the towel wrapping bit....and also how their hind legs can wriggle out of that towel and tear your forearms up as well:) I hate that look they get too, even though you're trying to help them you feel so rotten about being the "doctor".

Blessings on you and the kitty!:)
