Can't help it. I gotta share it.

On Monday I heard a noise in the house that startled me awake. I jumped up and came hustling out of my room. I was met just outside my bedroom door by my daughter. "It's OK mom. It's just me." I was surprised to see her up so early. She had finally learned the art of sleeping in on summer vacation, so to see her up at 7 am was unexpected. She told me to go back to bed. I knew she had something up her sleeve but I didn't know what. Yet.

About an hour later I start to smell something. I figure she's making me breakfast but I don't know what we have that smells like that. So I come out to investigate. What I found made my heart swell. The night before my sweet girl set her alarm clock to get up at 7. She rolled out of bed and took it upon herself to bake me a birthday cake. No one asked her to. No one knew that was her plan. When I got up she had two round cake pans cooling on the counter. She had never baked without me with her so this was her first solo venture.

ON TOP OF THAT she had listed all the calories in all the ingredients or substitutions she had made to the cake just like she has watched me do. She wanted me to be able to record it in my food journal. She thought of everything. It didn't matter to me how many calories were in that cake. It was baked with love and I would eat a big ole hunk no matter how naughty it was!

I'm so proud to have her as my daughter.

Oh my god OGO! I am at work with tears in my eyes. That is the sweetest thing I've ever heard. What an angel. She must have had some really good examples to be such a thoughtful person. You should pat yourselves on the back for raising such a special girl!
