Happy 4th of JULY!

Sorry I haven't been around to every ones sites much. My sweet CCB has been on vacation and when he's home I have better things to do than to sit at the computer. *grin*

I had LOTS of plans for this week but many MANY of them have been cut. One of the things we dared not cut was the trip to the local amusement/water park. I sort of avoided it since we've moved here assuming it was a stinky mom and pop park. Well you know what they say about when you Assume, right? Well it's certainly not the biggest park but it was a barrel of fun! We didn't get alot of time in at the water park. WHEW! I SO hate running around in my swim suit. I don't care that I've lost weight. It's still not my favorite. The lines were pretty long so we cut our losses and went to ride the rides. Let's see, the standout moments of our day.....

CCB saw a naked girl (maybe 12?) come out of the bathroom much to her fathers horror. He didn't speak english and was gesturing wildly. She was holding her clothes in her hands and made no attempt to cover herself. What could he do? She was too big to go into the mens room with him and he certainly couldn't go into the ladies room. Luckily some nice woman saw her and whisked her back into the bathroom to make her get dressed. I guess it happened pretty fast and only a handful of boys at the water fountain were privvy to what happened. I was oblivious to this. I had seen that girl come INTO the bathroom peeling her clothes off on the way to a stall but never saw her leave.

I saw a guy blow chunks, THEN get in line for a spinning ride. (Life is about choices dude.) Unfortunately he barfed RIGHT BEFORE we were to board. They closed the ride for cleaning and we had to go elsewhere.

I cut my knee playing in the "Pirates cove" with my son. It's amazing how your view of cargo nets change when you are in your thirties. I was not to pleased to have to climb them and even more displeased with the little munchkins speeding by me and bouncing the darn thing! (OH yeah, and to the dude who passed me on that steep freakin cargo net. You know who you are. You are the one who neglected to tell me that the only slide at the top of the net was closed. Even though you had just been there. You sir, are a butt.)

The water in the childrens play pool was much colder than everywhere else. I found this interesting since they were all such little kids. I figured all that pee would surely keep it warm. My husband says that they probably cycle that water quicker through all their filters for that very reason. I found out ,quite by accident I assure you, that that water was quite salty. I don't believe my husbands theory is right...

Some woman with lots of kids thought my man might be a good "baby daddy" for her kids since he had a t-shirt with AUSTRALIA printed on it. She wanted to know if he'd been there and wanted to know how old he was. My sly man worked in that he wanted to take me there for our 20th anniversary and she cooled her heels. I'm flattered really. Back off chick he's mine.

I giggled till my cheeks hurt while riding rides with my daughter. She is either talking a mile a minute or exploding in short bursts of gutteral screams It's the funniest thing ever and I enjoyed every minute of it.

My son decided a ride was too much for him in the middle of it and I had to have the operator stop the ride half way through. I've never done this before. I felt bad because I interrupted the other riders fun and maybe a little embarrassed because all eyes were on us. It had to be done though, he started to panic and wanted out of the seat belt. I wasn't sure I could keep him from wiggling free. He would not be soothed.

We found out that the park was offering a second day free deal. You have to come fill out a card and put your thumb print on it. Then you can get free admission if you come back within 6 days. We are gonna try but the weather hasn't been cooperating. We'll see.

You know, I think it's different coming to an amusement park as a parent. As a kid I had no fear. Bring on the big bad rides! As a parent I am concerned that the lap belt is too loose. Can that lap bar come down a little lower, my daughter is skinny, and there is too much play in the bar. Why doesn't this ride have any seat belts? I have a lot more concerns as a parent and it's not for myself! The other thing that is different is that I come home with a lot more aches and pains. This old body just can't take that whipping and jerking like it used too. Maybe if the seat belt had been tighter.......

I'm surprised you didn't want to strut your stuff in your new size! Guess you strutted it somewhere since you and CCB stayed to "busy".

I'm glad you stopped the ride for your son. I was 21 when I screamed to stop a ride and let ME off. I was terrified and that was my last amusement park ride.

I'm happy though for others who enjoy rides like your daughter. Don't you wish you could have recorderd he joy?

Sounds like a great time was had by all!

I totally agree with what you say about being a care free kid...but now that I'm an adult, I'm really the overprotective dad that I swore I'd never be! :)

Man, it sounds like you guys really had a blast!! And I am still LMAO at the whole salty water in the pool thing!!

I'm still too nervous about the boys to put them on anything stronger than a carousel. Maybe next year!
