Hollywood dahling!

Ok, I will try my best not to ramble but it's gonna be hard because there was just too much cool stuff going on.

Remember I told you that those "music video" guys were supposed to come back and discuss money with my neighbors on Thursday of last week. I fretted and worried about her all week. I asked her to make sure her husband was home with her. As it turned out they came when she was gone and it was just her husband. They made the deal and it was a go. They left me a note on my door telling me that they were shutting down the street from 6:30 to 8pm on Saturday. I was ok with that. I figured it would be interesting to watch if nothing else.

Thursday morning I got a call from my neighbor telling me that they wanted her to call me and see if they could come over and talk to me about using our house as well. Now I had only been up for a few minutes so I told her to stall them and got dressed, I didn't want to greet them in my jammies. I tidied the kitchen while I called my husband to tell him what was going on. He told me not to let them inside the house and asked me to get lots of money. (Ha! That's funny because I'm NOT a negotiator.) Anyway. They came over and looked at our house and plotted camera angles and so forth it was interesting to see. Then the director (his name is Phenomenon remember?) tells me his plans for this Christian music video. After hearing the story line I was in it didn't matter how much money they offered I wanted to be a part of it. The men left and the project manager came over with contracts and we discussed payment. When I called my husband back to tell him what was going to happen he was a little stunned. He had asked that I not let them in and now they were shooting in our living room, kitchen, my sons bedroom and our front porch/yard. I still think he was a little skeptical.

Saturday morning we were up bright and early. The trucks and people descended on our street in minutes. They were scurrying all over the place. The best way to describe it is like an army of ants. They were running all over the place and it looked like chaos but everyone knew exactly what they were doing. They started out shooting the singer Genita Pugh singing in front of my neighbors tree. They took all sorts of angles and lighting changes before they were satisfied. Then they went on to working on the story for the rest of the video. They started at my neighbors house and we didn't get to the scenes at our house till after lunch. Lunch by the way, was held in my back patio. They were finding that they were more pressed for time than they had planned so they rethought their plan of attack.

My house was used for the kidnappers house that's why there are police in the driveway and the yard. The story was that a woman ,Genita, was praying and God told her about this girl and that she needed help. Genita calls the police and they tell her there really isn't much they can do because there is no proof. She talks the officer into going yadda yadda yadda and they end up finding the girl and arresting the bad guys.

This is phenomenon.

The woman with the orange shirt is Genita.

There is one of the bad guys. He was really a big soft spoken teddy bear of a man.

My son thought Phenomenon was his best bud. They bonded over Spiderman. He was nice enough to let me have a picture for boy to keep.

It took nearly 10 hours of taping to get what will be like a 3 minute video. It was fascinating to watch. Everyone was so nice to us. We talked to camera men, grips, make-up artists, producers, and directors. It was kinda surreal. They packed up and were out of here in no time. The only clue they left behind was the hole my door knob left in my wall. They said they would have it fixed or I could take 200 dollars and have it fixed ourselves. I opted for the money. It only cost me 3.64 for a can of wall patch mix. I think I came out of it ok.

It was amazing.

You know, there is so much more to this day to share. Some of it spiritual, some of it not. This entry has gone on long enough and I think I'll save some of that for later.

It never fails for me to laugh about your "About Me" quote that says you are boring. I'm afraid this is pretty proof positive of the opposite. You've gone from prefection as a homemaker, a great interior designer to Hollywood. Will wonders never cease? Where does "boring" come in? LOL

That sounds like quite the adventure, and at your own front door too! I'm glad you decided to go along with it. It's a good thing you didn't listen to CCB initially :)
