Well dear friends, those of you who are left anyway. (It does feel a little empty around here doesn't it?) I've been thinking about some of my favorite tips and hints and I'd like to hear yours. It could be something that makes work easier, saves money, saves time or what ever. I'd love to hear them.

1. I don't use steel wool on the day to day basis. I usually only need it for small jobs and it always rusts before I need to use it again. SO I like to take my SOS pads and cut each of them into two pieces. They are still big enough to use but I'm not wasting the whole thing when I have to throw it away.

2. I LOVE flexible plastic cutting boards. Not only can you cut up your stuff but you can simply roll them up and use it to pour whatever you chopped into your pan or ziploc or whatever. It can also make a pretty good funnel in a pinch.

3. Using applesauce is a great way to lighten the calories in baked goods. It does change the texture though so I only sub it for half the oil in a recipe these days.

4. It always seems like the day I decide to make spaghetti I have a white shirt on. It also seems like I always get a bit of sauce on this white shirt during the preparation of the meal. If I find that the spot didn't come out completely in the wash I simply lay the shirt in the sun for a while. It disappears like magic.

5. Slow drain? Sprinkle baking soda down the drain then pour some vinegar down after it. (just like the experiments in school remember?) Wait for it to quiet down then run hot water. It won't take care of all clogs but works pretty good for what I've needed.

6. Pet hair on your sofa? Slip on a rubber glove (like you use for doing dishes) and rub it over the fabric. The stubborn little hairs will come up much easier!

Well that's all that I have time for now. Let me know what great tips and ideas you have!

Re: Number 4...

Just cook naked.

That's really all I have right now. I've been trying to think of helpful/useful ideas but can't. LOL I suck.

Oh... I have one that's kind of obvious -- but I carry a Tide-To-Go pen with me ALWAYS because, well, I'm accident prone. It's come in handy for other people as well... at a Christmas party last year someone spilled red wine on her shirt and she used the pen and the stain was gone!

Thanks for #5...I needed that one right now.

My tip? Spray Pam in your Tupperware before you put spaghetti sauce or anything dark in there...it prevents staining.

My tip - if you are dining out and get a greasy spot or stain on your clothing you can use a packet of Splenda or Sweet and Low on the spot - in a pinch, use salt. It will soak up the grease and makes the spot come out in the wash with ease. If you're home you can use regular powder or flour.
