THAT'S IT! I'VE HAD IT!

I'm switching doctors in January. I'm so angry with these yahoo's right now. Yesterday after they told me I needed to come in to talk to the doctor they made me an appt for 2:30pm. I asked my husband if he would be able to go with me and even though it's a busy time for him he made it happen. He left work at 1:45 to make sure he'd be here in time. We barely made it but at 2:30 we were there. THERE is where we stayed for another 2 and 1/2 hours! We sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes. Then we sat in the exam room for an hour and 15 minutes. When the doctor came in she was a little puzzled as to why I was there. She started to say "You didn't need...." Then she trailed off. I didn't need what? I didn't need an appt! She reviewed my last test results and determined that the new dose wasn't correct and that we needed to change it again. She could have told me that over the phone. There was no reason for me to be there. No reason for me to spend 2 1/2 hours there. No reason for my husband to miss work. No reason for me to spend 50 dollars for the privilege of waiting in their office. NONE.

While she was looking at my last set of test results I asked her about my cholesterol. She said it was fine. I asked if it was better than last time. She said it was a couple of points better and she asked why I was worried. I told her about our last appt and how she was puzzled as to why individually all the numbers were good but the cumulative number was high. She said she didn't look at the cumulative number. AS IF I JUST MADE ALL THAT CRAP UP! (My blood sugar is still normal by the way. GO ME!) She chastised me for taking my pills at night instead of in the morning and indicated that could have affected my test. I have taken them that way for 10 years and I have had normal tests up till now. As if.

Then she took off to ask someone a question about my insurace and while she was gone my husband decided to call his work. It was now 5 o'clock and he needed to make arrangements since he wasn't back yet. She walked in and started talking LOUD. She issued some sort of requests for new tests and handed me a bag of samples for the new dose she wants me to take and rushed out of the room. Between my husband talking and her I was unclear as to what she wanted. I stepped outside the room when my husband hung up, which was right as she was leaving to see if she was finished with us. She was no where to be found. We went out to check out and settle the bill and I saw her going by and asked her to repeat her instructions. She said it was too loud in there for her and she had sensory overload so she had to get out. *sigh*

I understand that at a doctors office they have emergencies come up. I understand that they can get behind schedule. Not a problem. I have a problem with the lack of communication. FIRST the nurse said I had to come in. WRONG. Then they don't bother telling us how long the wait is going to be. THEN no one bothers to say anything about it. No, I'm sorry for the wait. Nothing. I'm just looking for some courtesy here! They don't call you back when you call and leave messages for the nurses or doctors. They just don't seem to care. The only reason I stayed was because I liked our old doctor there. She is gone and there is no reason for us to stay there either. I know where she went and I'm giving them a call.

If you made it to the end of this post....I mean rant. Then you are to be commended because it's just a big ole load of crankiness that I didn't even go back and reread. It's just a rambling rant and if you got this far I love you for it. Have a terrific day.

That doctor was downright rude and I'd be minded to complain to whoever employs her. You're there to be treated, not to suffer her crap. It might well have been an off day for her, but when you get to her level there's such a thing as professionalism which means that you don't let off days interfere with your job. I'd certainly ask round for recommendations.

Unfortunately over here a 2 1/2 hr wait is pretty standard for a consultant, but at least it's free to us at the point of use!

I love the word yahoo when used not in reference to the search engine.

Yikes! That was a long wait and a lot of annoying bits thrown in. Given the shortage of doctors here, I'm so grateful that mine is not a yahoo. I always take my cholesterol medecine in the morning because I have a bunch of other things to take then, and I think it's probably better to take them in the morning than not at all, but MY doctor wants me to take them at night. the medical profesion is so confusing.

I hate doctor's offices. It's SO HARD to find a good one. I love my OB/GYN and I've always wanted him to be my family doctor because he LISTENS and CARES. It's so sad that family docs are so overloaded with patients they can't take the time to even pretend to care or listen. Ugh. I'm sorry you're dealing with this garbage.
