I just can't seem to do it. Each time I see the images. Each time I hear the story. It just chokes me up. I dare not talk because my voice quivers and gives me away. I can't help but put myself in the frozen wet shoes of the people rescued from yesterdays plane crash. The mothers fearing for their babies. The dads desperately trying to brace their children for impact. Strangers reaching out to help others. Even writing this brings tears and blurs my vision. I think of the families and friends who waited breathless, hearts pounding, to find out if their loved ones were safe. The waiting must have been agonizing. I think of the pilot and crew who did everything just the way they were taught.
Well done. Disaster averted.

I am SO impressed with the way this disaster turned out. It seems that everyone did everything right. The pilot brilliantly not dropping the landing gear in order to "land" softly in the water. The crew, the passengers, the police, the rescue crew...
I have to tell you, it was (and is) brutally cold and windy here and about the same in NYC. I said to my husband last night, can you IMAGINE having to get out of that airplane, into the cold water, in this weather??? I feel so bad for those people but SO thankful that they all have their lives. What a scary day!
It's incredible the way a disaster on the scale of 9/11 was averted thanks to the skill and quick thinking of two brave men, and the cabin crew for getting everyone out of the plane safely. Make no mistake, these people are true heroes.
I know better than to watch this on TV---even reading about it on my newsfeed made me shaky.
I have photos of the plane in the river. It was tethered at the ferry terminal just outside of where I work...I'll get the photos up soon.
The whole thing was amazing. The ferry operators are the unsung heroes of the day as the were on 9/11...those guys are unbelieveable.
This plane wreck waw nothing short of a miracle. I know that the Lord had everything to do with the outcome of this where no one died! It's amazing, don't you think!
Girl, you got that one right. It is good news all around.
