Woo hoo!

It KILLS me to PAY to watch tv in my own home. The problem was that we could only get one station and you had to squint to see through the snow if you wanted to watch it. SO when we moved in we had cable installed. At the time the deal they offered was fantastic so we had lots of channels. After the first year the deal was done. That's when we discovered they had us in a corner. IF we ditched services we were no longer able to get the "bundle discounts". That meant that we would pay basically the same price for less channels. What a pain in the butt.

SO while my husband was home on his unemployment vacation :) we sent off for our converter box coupons. Yesterday we purchased one and hooked it up. It's true that it's not quite as convenient as cable but we spent a one time fee of 20 dollars and we have all the channels available on basic cable. Can you just feel me smiling as I typed that? We only bought one box to see if we liked it and so far so good. I'm thinking cable is on the way out at my house! I used to be concerned that the kids would revolt because they would lose their beloved Nickelodeon but you know what? It's all online too. (Most of the time they were reruns on tv anyway.) All they have to do is go to the Nick website and they can pull up all the shows they like. Then there is Hulu. You can pick up all sorts of shows there too. We're workin' the system baby!

You are so fortunate to be able to receive free channels. Once again we are affected by living in the twilight zone and the converter package gave us less channels and we cannot get CBS on the TV at all. My son, like you, got more channels and fun channels too. Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh

Sounds good, how do I get a converter box?

Good for you...cable companies screw you on these stupid deals & now it's nice to know we have alternatives.
