Thanksgiving was great. I miss CCB's parents already. It's so nice to have them around. No in law jokes here.
My son had an abscessed tooth that we had to have removed the other day. He did fantastic and the pediatric dentist that did the work is wonderful. He actually called that night to make sure my boy was doing ok. I think we'll keep him.
My daughter made Honor Choir for our area. It's made up with kids from different schools. I'm proud of her. The thing that irks me a bit though is this.....She was required to try out for it. She didn't even want to take Chorus in school. She didn't get the elective she wanted she just got stuck there. If she didn't try out for the honor choir she'd get a zero for a grade. Now she has extra practicing and a performance to do. I'm happy she was chosen and I'm happy to shuttle her where she needs to go. I guess I just resent being FORCED to do it. They have also just scheduled two after school practices for a school performance. They are required as well. No show equals bad grade. I can pick her up it's not a big deal for me but I wonder about all those working parents who have to figure out how to get their kid when practice is over. Or the working mom who has to juggle things on short notice to make sure their child isn't sitting there alone. I don't know. It just irks me.
This is the first morning all week that I have been alone with no appointments or requirements. I think I'll go get some stuff done for the first time all week!
Have a terrific day!

Glad your son is better after having his dental work. Not fun at any age, especially when you're little.
That does sound mean about not giving the children a grade if they don't show up for after school activities. It is difficult being a working mother, a few weeks ago I wasn't allowed to leave early for my daughter's nursery halloween party (my boss believes women with kids shouldn't work and is not shy about saying so) and me taking a day off work on annual leave yesterday because my daughter was sick was met with uncomfortable silence.
I think it's so fantastic that there are pediatric dental professionals that really care these days. I know when I was little the dentist I went to saw children, but let me tell you, the bedside manner was quite lacking! I'm glad our kids get these benefits because going to the dentist was traumatic for me as a child!
And I agree about your daughter. I mean, it's one thing if it's a chosen activity and you know before hand the obligations and can plan, but she is required...that seems rather pushy to me. I hope she does well and that you guys survive the practices and performances.
Glad everything we well with your son's dental work.... I bet your daughter enjoys singing in the choir.. If she had made region band you would have been doing the same thing.... Glad you had a great Thanksgiving...
