Good Monday to you. I hope you had a lovely weekend. This week my hubby only had Sunday off so it was sort of a mini weekend for us. I felt a little cooped up and suggested that we make some sort of excursion. We decided to go to a little town close by to see what was there and to let my son, who had been crabby all morning, be a wildman and play in the play structure at McDonalds.
We let him climb back up after he'd eaten his lunch and CCB and I visited while he navigated through the tubes. Until I heard him cry. I recognized it immediately. It was MY baby and he was SCARED. I looked through the little peeky windows till I saw him come into view. He paused when he and a little boy came face to face. The two of them stared at each other for a minute and then he started climbing down again as fast as his little legs would carry him. The other little boy looked out at the group of parents trying to see where my boy was going. We locked eyes and I know he knew I knew. He kept peeking at me then hiding his face.
My boy came out and my husband scooped him up and brought him to me. (I tweaked my back again yesterday morning.) He said,"Scary! Boy eat." We pieced it all together. The other little boy who was a few years older than mine. Had growled. My hubby heard it. My son couldn't see where it was coming from and started to freak ,he is only 2 1/2. ( Imagine that you are in a tube and out of nowhere you hear a snarling growling sound but you can't see it's origin! Oh yeah, and you are 2!) Then when he came face to face with the other kid, he told my boy he was going to eat him. From a two year olds view that must have been scary. We sorted it all out and the other boys dad explained he couldn't play that way with my little one and we explained to ours that he was only "pretending". It didn't matter though. The damage was done. At naptime and at bed time and a couple times in between he paused to talk about the scary boy that wanted to eat him. I wonder how long this is going to stick with him...
On a lighter note, my daughter made me laugh so hard yesterday. After McDonalds we put my son down for a nap while CCB, my daughter and I played Dominoes and Rummy. My daughter is getting pretty good at these games so beating her isn't always a given. My husband teased her that he was going to have to ground her if she didn't start discarding good cards for him. She replied with,"Go ahead. I don't go anywhere anyway!" She came back with that so fast and so matter of fact that it struck us funny. It's true though. Grounding her would do NO good. *sigh* I guess you had to be there....
Have a good day!

Glad everything worked out at the "play yard". I enjoy playing card games. I usually play solitair on the computer. My kids like Monopoly.
Awwww, your poor son! Usually those kids are so friendly at the play places. I know they are where we go cause I always meet a few as they help my stuck son get down. :-)
Dont worry , a year or two from now he'll be the one going grrrrr.
I was scared by an older boy when I was 6 and I still haven't recovered.
But, I'm sure your son will get over it soon..
Your daughter's great, she's got attitude LOL!
She is also a great "smack" talker!
Your daughter sounds like she is a funny one and very quick with the come back's.
Sorry about the boy. I guess it's all about these little life lessons but it sucks to sit by and watch it happen. Hopefully he'll forget about the mean boy that wanted to eat him soon!
