That was the question. On Saturday we had to get out of the house so that it could be shown to potential buyers. We decided to go to our library to burn some time. Shortly after arriving I noticed my son "fiddling" with himself. I didn't get him ready to go that morning so I wasn't sure if he had gone to the bathroom or not, so I asked him. He reveals to me that he hasn't gone to the bathroom and he doesn't need to go. I tell him that he should just take a minute to do his business and be done with it. That way there are no accidents. He refuses. So I step closer and take his hand to lead him into the bathroom. He digs his feet in and makes me pull him! We are in the library so I have to hiss at him in hushed tones to come with me.
I get him into the bathroom and we go into the stall. I tell him to just get it over with and he refuses. FLAT OUT refuses to even try. I don't know who's boy this is but he certainly isn't my sweet angel baby. So instead of losing my cool I lean against the stall door and wait. He waits. I finally decide it could be a while and get comfortable squatting against the door. He reiterates that he doesn't need to go so I challenge him to prove it. This challenge is appealing to him. He decides that he WILL prove it to me. He goes to the toilet and stands there, and stands there, and stands there! NOTHING! I'm losing confidence by this time and look at him completely amazed that after a whole night and a few hours this morning he still has no pee. Is he sick? Dehydrated? What is up with this?
I feel that I need to back down at this point. Perhaps he was being honest. I ask him to just try for me. Since we are there anyway. He looks at me for a minute and then turns back to the toilet. He lets go a torrent of pee that rivals Niagara. It just kept coming and coming! At this point I realize just how stubborn my boy can be.
I'm gonna have my hands full.

I am NOT looking forward to getting my son to go in the potty. Yesterday my daughter had her first accident in about 6 months. And wouldn't you know it was the only time in the past 6 months she took a nap in my bed.
Hahahahahahahahaha I'm so glad I'm not the only parent who is in the "What the crap am I going to do when they're older?" boat.
LOL! He's growing up mom! I am sure that he would much rather have "done his job" than have an accident...With that much pee, you would have been mopping for a while.
Wow! This makes me very nervous!! One of my best friends also has a boy and although he's "potty trained" he often pee's his pants because when he's out playing he doesn't want to stop to go to the bathroom so he just goes where he is...It's definitely a boy thing. Yikes!!
Your boy can be a stubborn one. I'm glad you won the battle before you had a kid with wet pants!!
At least he finally gave in.
My experience has shown that girls as well as boys will do everything they can to get out of stopping whatever to go to the bathroom. After telling my granddaughter Hope to come in go to the bathroom and hearing her refuse the need, I finally saw her take one last slide down the hill of dirt and come running toward the house with sopping wet and now muddy pants. What do they thing will happen to the need to pee simply by denying it?
So stubborn yet soooo sweet with it!
Zoe can be a stubborn little madam when she's decided she wants something, and can be like a terrier and won't let anything go if she gets the vaguest glimmer of hope that she might win this particular battle. Maybe in years to come you and I might be meeting at Zoe and your son's wedding, and they'll go on to have stubborn but oh so sweet little children of their own who will have cute American accents!!
