To pee or not to pee...

That was the question. On Saturday we had to get out of the house so that it could be shown to potential buyers. We decided to go to our library to burn some time. Shortly after arriving I noticed my son "fiddling" with himself. I didn't get him ready to go that morning so I wasn't sure if he had gone to the bathroom or not, so I asked him. He reveals to me that he hasn't gone to the bathroom and he doesn't need to go. I tell him that he should just take a minute to do his business and be done with it. That way there are no accidents. He refuses. So I step closer and take his hand to lead him into the bathroom. He digs his feet in and makes me pull him! We are in the library so I have to hiss at him in hushed tones to come with me.

I get him into the bathroom and we go into the stall. I tell him to just get it over with and he refuses. FLAT OUT refuses to even try. I don't know who's boy this is but he certainly isn't my sweet angel baby. So instead of losing my cool I lean against the stall door and wait. He waits. I finally decide it could be a while and get comfortable squatting against the door. He reiterates that he doesn't need to go so I challenge him to prove it. This challenge is appealing to him. He decides that he WILL prove it to me. He goes to the toilet and stands there, and stands there, and stands there! NOTHING! I'm losing confidence by this time and look at him completely amazed that after a whole night and a few hours this morning he still has no pee. Is he sick? Dehydrated? What is up with this?

I feel that I need to back down at this point. Perhaps he was being honest. I ask him to just try for me. Since we are there anyway. He looks at me for a minute and then turns back to the toilet. He lets go a torrent of pee that rivals Niagara. It just kept coming and coming! At this point I realize just how stubborn my boy can be.

I'm gonna have my hands full.
