Guess what! We are cool again! *knock on wood* Yesterday around 4:00 someone finally showed up to look at our air conditioner again. I should mention that it was 89 degrees in here by that time! They sent him to get the numbers for the part they were gonna order for us. That made me a little leary. I was hoping they would take a peek at it just to make sure that is what we needed. Guess what!? He did! After climbing in the attic and getting the number he said he was gonna take a look at the unit outside. When he closed the door to the attic he woke my son up so I took him outside with me to check on the repair man. (note it has been my experience that when heating/cooling people know you have children they are a little more flexible. That's just my experience) He told me he would have it running for me one way or the other! I like this guy already!
He opened it up and found a big ole leak right off the bat! I could see the spewing freon! I was encouraged by this. I might not have to pay 500 dollars to be comfy! I offered him a glass of tea and when I returned with it (be nice to your service people!) he had found 3 leaks total. He installed 3 valves and loaded it up with freon again. We have been cool ever since! He told me that the first guy should have checked on that and that he wasn't sure if I should be charged or not. He took a copy of my bill back to the office with him to see what they wanted him to do.
I want to make sure it stays cool in here today and if it does I'm calling the office back and singing this guys praises! Too often people are quick to complain about their service but what about when you get good service? I think it's important to give praise as well. Not to mention they remember you when they have to come out the next time.
Now all I have to do is figure out this programmable thermostat CCB installed last week....

there is nothing worse in the summer if you don't have air condition! We currently don't have it in our car--and that really sux!
I'm too far gone for simple technology to make me cool again. Actually I don't think I was ever considered cool. It probably has a lot to do with this ratty old brain I came equipped with. Maybe it has some leaks that a valve or twelve can sort out.
So, basically, you guilted and bribed him into fixing it?
That's great, you never hear good stories of repairmen.
back to reading blogs...had to choose between that and moving. We're cool too but that's because we had snow this morning---April going out like a lion, I guess.
Yesss! That's awesome. Glad the A.C's back and pumpin. And I'm with you, I always talk up the good guys if I can. Enough of always complaining about the bad one's. I have a programmable thermostat too. I love it - now that I've figured it out!
I ended up helping the guy who fitted my cable service to change his wheel after he got a flat, does that count for being nice to service people?
Anyway yes it is so easy to focus on the negative, and forget to let them know when they are doing a good job too!
