It's Friday! Can I get woop woop?

Well it's Friday. I haven't been posting much cuz ya'll don't wanna hear me whine and mope. We are doing much better now that the shock of all this crap has worn off. I think my husband has smiled more in the last week than he has in the last 6 months! The weight of the old job is gone. He's been doing preliminary stuff with a few potential employers so we are hopeful something will pan out soon.

We got a welcome surprise a couple of days ago. It seems he was there long enough to get his 3 weeks of vacation pay! YAY! That's nearly a whole month of pay we didn't expect! Our income taxes were deposited to our account today so I am feeling a huge sense of relief right now. Today we went in to collect CCB's final check today only to find out they mailed it. While we were there we heard people talking about how they think CCB was set up for this whole mess. At least I know that they are aware of CCB's character and aren't buying into any lies. I really worried that they would smear his name. They put someone in charge that has never done the job and had only been there 4 months. HA! He doesn't know what he's in for.

So we are in a much better place than we were 2 weeks ago. We'll get through this and probably be better off for it.

Wanna know what I think? Huh huh do ya? I think they tried to push CCB into quitting. I think they made it extra hard on him by taking away days off, by making him do the same task multiple times because they decided to do it differently and by ignoring his pleas for better help. (We wondered if his direct boss had some sort of memory problem because he would tell CCB to do something then deny it later.)I think that since he didn't quit they decided just to take him out. I think that CCB's boss knew it wasn't fair and in order to make himself feel better about it he built things up in his head and took them as slaps to his own integrity. It makes it easier to fire someone if you are angry at them doesn't it? (By the way they are doing the same thing to a friend of CCB's. They left him without additional management staff for 9 months!)

Why does it matter? Why do I care? I care because the man that came and refused CCB's resignation was the man we thought was wonderful. The man came in and took CCB under his wing and promised to help him in spite of the other manager CCB had to deal with. This is the man that gave CCB scripture to pass on to me to help calm my nerves after they found the lumps on my thyroid. The man that offered to call me and assure me that he was going to keep helping CCB when he got a new much higher position in the company. Then he distanced himself from CCB after the hurricane came through. They didn't speak nearly as much. Then it came to this. I just can't seem to wrap my mind around why this man who claimed to be so fond of my CCB would turn around and turn this termination into a personal attack. It doesn't make sense.

I'll never know why I guess. Unless he finds some other reason to call us at home. Isn't that just weird? Any who.....I know this was a rambling mess. It probably didn't make much sense I'm not even going to proof read. I promised my CCB that I would stop dwelling on the past and look to the future so maybe just writing it down will help me move on. We'll see.

Oh yeah. They went there.

So they refused to take my husbands resignation letter today. The man was offended that CCB checked up on his benefits and what he would and wouldn't be entitled to. The old boss said,"You wanted to make sure you got your unemployment. Now there's no question." Then he accused him of being disrespectful to one of his auditors. (The auditor in question gave CCB her cell number because she said she considered him a friend and wanted him to keep in touch. ) If she was disrespected why would she want to keep in touch? SO, CCB being the man that he is called her up and offered his apology. She said she hadn't been disrespected or hadn't been insulted in any way. I know this because I could hear her yelling through our phone. She was livid.

LATER the old boss called us at home. He thanked CCB for apologizing. ??????????? He said he had read his resignation and continued on to tell CCB that it didn't go down that way because of the conversation about benefits. ???????? In my humble opinion I think they are just trying to justify firing him. I think the old boss took it personal that we were covering our bases instead of trusting him. He told CCB that he had never been in our position....So how could he possibly resent us for taking care of our own. Up till that point I still thought of him as a decent man. He just made it easier not to look back.

On the upside we got another head hunter who's talking a pretty sweet deal. No official offer yet but it is one of the better spiels we've heard.

Today is the day.

My husbands resignation is nothing short of beautiful. It's written with such eloquence. It's better than anything I could have come up with. Mine would have been strewn with expletives and accusations. That's not my guys style. He's going out with dignity and grace. I on the other hand have enough anger for the both of us. Everyone keeps telling him how great a boss he is and how great he's done. That just makes me more angry. It all comes down to politics. I have my own theories, but it really doesn't matter now does it. 2 of his bosses have told him that he can use them for a reference! I just think this is so unfair. I can't do anything to help. I just have to stand back watch it all go down.

Yesterday one of his bosses came to him and said he'd heard that the reason he didn't submit his resignation sooner was because he was concerned he wouldn't get unemployment benefits. CCB confirmed that was true. The boss had the nerve to say,"why didn't you come talk to me? I've been assured there will be no effort to block your benefits." HUH? Why would we trust you? Why would we confide in you when you just pulled the rug out from under us? I just don't think they get it.

CCB has been contacted by some employers this week. So far they all require a move at some point. Some with comparable pay. Some not. I really didn't want to make my daughter change schools again. I didn't want that for my family. In case you hadn't figured out. I'm the sorta girl who just wants to be settled. I don't enjoy drama. I don't enjoy upheaval. I thought we'd found it. I really thought that this company was the last company CCB would work for. I had lots of hopes and dreams pinned on them. All for nothing. They aren't what they say they are. I think that is part of why this stings so bad. I believed in them and what they say they stand for. I feel duped. They just use you up and spit you out like everyone else.

I know we will be OK in the end. I KNOW it. It's just getting there that may get hairy.

*bleary eyed*

If you are a praying person I'd appreciate it if you'd send up a few for my family. After my husband busted his butt working without weekends since Thanksgiving. After increasing the profits and becoming the 4th highest in the company. They decided it was time to let him go. We didn't see it coming. We were blind sided. Everything was going so well at his place.

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed right now. I'm trying to arm myself with knowledge it usually helps me. It's a very scary feeling to know this is happening after we jumped through all their hoops and moved across country. We are stranded here. Alone. Our family and comfort is miles away. My husband on the other hand is wrapping himself in his faith. He is upbeat and sure there is something better waiting for us. I'm just not there yet. I'm still combing through the details of whats to come. I'm still terrified.

To show you the amazing man my husband is....They told him on Saturday night he should start looking for a new job. He came home and started looking but he still got up and went to work today. He found out they are replacing him this week. He is still getting the job done there KNOWING they are cutting him loose. I can't tell you how much that man amazes me. He's a man of honor.
